Breating ApparatusThe suction tube apparatus, available in the 1890's took the hood and hose to its logical conclusion. Practical Coal Mining recorded; This apparatus has done good service in some cases of under ground fire; but it cannot be conveniently employed at greater distances than 20 or 30 yards, as the effort to breath becomes too exhausting when a greater length of tube is used.
