Mr. and Mrs. John Segatti | |||||||
Mr. and Mrs. John Segatti are very well known in Edmonton for their heavy involvement in the Italian community. Mrs. Segatti's mother and father emigrated from Italy just before the first great war. They came to Lethbridge, in 1912, where she was born. John left Italy on the 10th of December, 1926. He arrived in Edmonton on the 15th of February. He was 17 years old. They met in 1932 after the soon to be Mrs. Segatti moved to Edmonton with her mother shortly after her father died in the Coalhurst mine disaster. They both love Alberta and think Canada is one of the best places in the world to live. The interview was conducted by Sab Roncucci for the Dante Alighieri Oral History Project in 1973. This oral history project was initiated by Sabatino Roncucci, a founder of the Dante Alighieri Society, for the purpose of documenting immigration history so that it could be shared not only with the Italian community but also the community at large.
